Three questions the registry exists to answer. Everything else it keeps to itself.

Three checks against the public part of the PATRIA registry: an institution is authorised only if it is here; a diploma is a CHEQF qualification only if it is here; a course or Sunday School certificate is centrally registered only if it is here. Nothing else counts, whatever is printed on the paper.

01 Verify an institution

A part of the name is enough. A registry number of the form CHEQF-INS-0000 finds one record exactly. The check runs in your browser against the published registry; nothing you type is sent anywhere.

02 Verify a diploma

Was this degree awarded,and is it still valid?

Spaces, dashes and case do not matter. The published registry holds only a fingerprint of each number, so it cannot be browsed; the check runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Courses and Sunday Schools. The register is recommended by the Standard, so “not found” is weaker here.

03 Verify a certificate

Was this course or Sunday Schoolcertificate issued, and by whom?

The central register holds Certificates of Completion, Certificates of Competence and Sunday School Graduation Certificates entered by their issuing organisations (Schools Standard, section 23). Certificates of Participation and annual certificates are not registered centrally. The published register holds only a fingerprint of each number; the check runs in your browser.

Five states for an institution, four for a diploma, three for a certificate. No other words are used.

04 How to read the answer

The registry speaksin twelve words.

Institution status (CHEQF Article 22.3)

  • AuthorisedThe status is in force. The institution may deliver the listed programmes at the listed levels.
  • Subject to conditionsIn force, with conditions and a remediation deadline set by the review panel.
  • ProbationIn force under probation. The conditions and the deadline are in the decision record.
  • SuspendedNot in force. The institution may not act under CHEQF until the suspension is lifted.
  • WithdrawnThe status has been removed. Individual diplomas are checked separately in the diploma registry.

Diploma status (CHEQF Articles 27–29)

  • ValidThe award is in the registry and has not been revoked. What you see is what the awarding body entered.
  • CorrectedThe record was amended after award through the formal correction procedure of Article 28.
  • RevokedThe degree was revoked by an independent panel under Article 29. The diploma is no longer a valid qualification.
  • Not foundNo award with this number has been entered. See below for what that means and what to do.

Certificate status (Schools Standard, sections 22–23)

  • ValidThe certificate is in the central register and has not been revoked.
  • RevokedRevoked under section 22 for falsification, erroneous issuance or material breach of the conditions of award.
  • Not in the central registerNot entered centrally. The certificate may still be genuine and registered locally by the issuing organisation (section 23 allows either): ask the issuer, and ask for the register entry.

Not found

The registry does not say “probably”. It says yes or it says nothing.

04 When the answer is “not found”

Not found is an answer.Treat the paper accordingly.

Every degree conferred under CHEQF is entered in the central registry by the awarding body at the moment of the award decision. Every institution with a status is entered when the decision is taken. There is no other channel: a diploma or a status that is not here has not been entered, whatever seal is on the document.

  • Ask the holder for the diploma supplement: section 12 carries the registration number and the verification address.
  • Write to office@patria.uno with the number, the degree and the name of the awarding body. Queries are answered from the registry, not from memory.
  • Until the Standard is approved and the first status granted, no diploma can be a CHEQF qualification, and no institution can be authorised. Any document claiming otherwise today is not ours.
